Completely independent from the continent since 5000BC, the "île d'Yeu" is located 17km west of the vendee Coast in the Atlantic ocean . The island hosts on its surface (10 km x 4) a wide diversity of landscapes : long beaches and costal dunes with conifer (pine trees); rocky cliffs circling sandy beaches, moorland land with sharp low grass; foot and bicycle pass along valleys and cliffs; hedged farmland hiding low houses with tiled roofs and colourful shutters.
The isle of Yeu was for a long time the first tuna exploitation port of the Atlantic cost, and fishing still remains an important activity / business on the island. On its wharves you will easily find sea bass, monkfish, sole, turbot, sea bream, hake and other shellfish.

With 5000 inhabitants (a quarter of which are under 25), l isle d Yeu is a lively, friendly island, profoundly turned towards the ocean, and for ocean lovers who decided to anchor there for one day or forever.
